Cabarita, NSW – 2137
Cabarita is a suburb in the inner-west of Sydney, located 16 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Canada Bay.
History
Cabarita is an Aboriginal word meaning ‘by the water’. The land was first granted to soldier David Anderson in 1795 and consisted mainly of swampland until housing developments were built.
Transport Links
Cabarita Wharf provides access to the ferry services which run along the Parramatta River. The area is also well served by buses.
Recreation
Cabarita Park and Prince Edward Park can be found here, and a number of new housing developments along the waterfront contain playing fields, gyms and golf courses.
Schools
There are child care and day care facilities to be found in Cabarita, although neighbouring Strathfield and Concord are home to a very large selection of both public and private schools.
