Living in Carlingford
Carlingford is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Carlingford is located 22 kilometres north-west of the Sydney central business district in the local government areas of the The Hills Shire, Hornsby Shire and the City of Parramatta.
History
Carlingford received its current name in 1886 after a vote by the residents. The name was suggested by Frederick Cox after he heard one of his employees describe similarities between Mobbs Hill and the town of Carlingford, County Louth, located in the east of Ireland. As Sydney rapidly expanded, following World War II, Carlingford underwent urbanisation from the orange-growing, agricultural area it once was.

Carlingford Railway station is the last stop on the Carlingford Line of the CityRail network. The area is well served by buses.
Shopping and Recreation
The Carlingford town centre is located on Pennant Hills Road and comprises a shopping strip and two shopping centres, Carlingford Court and Carlingford Village. Carlingford has excellent facilities for a number of sporting activities including netball, baseball, soccer, cricket and football.

Carlingford is the location of a large number of public and private schools including the James Ruse Agricultural High School, Carlingford Public School and AIS The International School to name but a few.
