Castle Hill, NSW – 2154
Castle Hill is a suburb in the north-west of Sydney, located 31 kilometres north-west of the Sydney central business district, in the Hills District of the Greater Western Sydney region. Castle Hill is the administrative centre of the local government area of The Hills Shire.
History
The first European visitors to the district were Governor Phillip and an excursion from Parramatta who reached the Hills in April 1791. Their aim was to find new country for settlement and farming to feed the struggling Sydney colony. Governor King began a government farm there in 1801, referring to it as Castle Hill.
Transport Links
The area is well served by buses and the nearby Pennant Hills Railway Station provides excellent links with the City and CBD.
Shopping and Recreation
Castle Mall and Castle Towers are two large shopping malls in the suburb with a large variety of shops and supermarkets. There are also two large cinema complexes, as well as The Hills Centre for Performing Arts, The Powerhouse Discovery Centre, The Hills Craft Markets and the annual Castle Hills Agricultural Show can all be found here.
