Chippendale is a small inner-city suburb of Sydney,  located on the southern edge of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Sydney.

History

The area is named after William Chippendale, who was granted a 95 acre estate here in 1819.

Transport Links

Chippendale is located adjacent to Sydney Central Railway Station to the east, and Broadway to the north, with its many bus services.

Shopping and Schools

Chippendale is home to a small selection of shops, cafes and pubs, but residents tend to rely on Broadway for a wider selection of shopping facilities. The University of Notre Dame and Curtin University of Technology both have campuses here. Nearby there are other university campuses, as well as a range of schools for all age groups.
