Living in Clovelly

Clovelly is a beachside suburb in south-eastern Sydney, located 8 kilometres south-east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Randwick and is part of the Eastern Suburbs region.

History

Named after the fishing village in Devon, England, Clovelly was previously known as ‘Little Coogee’, due to its close proximity to Coogee, but the name was changed in 1912. The tram service arrived in Clovelly the following year and helped the suburb to develop into the popular residential area it is today.

Transport Links

Clovelly is well served by bus routes to Bondi Junction interchange, with its fast rail links into the City and CBD, and other bus services to Wynyard and Millers Point.

Shopping and Recreation

There is a small shopping precinct located on Clovelly Road, with the Royal Randwick Centre close by. There are also five golf courses nearby, beautiful coastal walks, Centennial Park and Clovelly beach, popular with families and surfers.

Schools
