Living in Concord
Concord is a suburb in the inner west of Sydney, located 15 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Canada Bay. Concord is known as the 'Parkland Suburb' of the Inner West.
History
Concord takes its name from Concord, Massachusetts, in the USA, which was the site of the Battle of Concord, and some historians believe the suburb was named to encourage a peaceful attitude between soldiers and settlers.
Transport Links
The area is well served with a number of bus services running through Concord into the City and CBD. Trains can be caught from Concord West, Strathfield and Rhodes.
Shopping and Recreation
Concord has a good local shopping area along Majors Bay Road, with daily essentials, supermarkets, newsagents, clothes shops, medical facilities and cafes and restaurants. More shops are located along Cabarita Road and Gale Street. Concord is home to a huge selection of parks, including Queen Elizabeth Park, Henley Park, Majors Bay Reserve and Sid Richards Park to name but a few. Concord Golf Course and Concord Oval can also be found here, as well as Concord-Ryde Sailing Club.
