Croydon, NSW – 2132
Croydon is a suburb in the inner-west of Sydney, located 11 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district. Croydon is split between the two local government areas of Burwood Council and the Municipality of Ashfield.
History
The suburb was named after the London suburb of Croydon, when the station arrived here in 1876.
Transport Links
Croydon Railway Station is on the Inner West Line of the CityLink network. The area is well served by several bus routes into the City, CBD and surrounding areas.
Shopping and Recreation
There is a cluster of shops around the train station including restaurants and cafes. Centenary Park is the areas largest park with barbecue facilities, bike tracks, play equipment, sports court and fields. Blair Park, Wangal Reserve and Reed Reserve are also to be found here. Burwood Soccer club and the ACC Cricket Club also call Croydon home, as well as the Western Suburbs League Bowling Club.
Schools
Burwood Girl’s High School, Croydon Public School, Holy Innocents Catholic Primary School and Presbyterian Ladies College Sydney can all be found in Croydon.
