Living in Curl Curl
Curl Curl is a suburb of northern Sydney, located 18 kilometres north-east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of Warringah Council and is part of the Northern Beaches region.
History
The name ‘Curl Curl’ appears to once have been the original Aboriginal name for the larger area of Manly Vale, Freshwater and Queenscliff. Many believe the name came from the Aboriginal phrase ‘curial curial’, meaning ‘river of life’.
Transport Links
Curl Curl is served by three bus routes, one between Manly and Chatswood, one between Manly and Warringah Mall and another between South Curl Curl and the CBD.
Recreation
Curl Curl is well equipped with sports and recreational facilities, with parks and playing fields on either side of Curl Curl Lagoon and Greendale Creek. Curl Curl Youth Club is popular for football and netball, and the Curl Curl Amateur Swimming Club runs regular swim events at the rock pool for all ages and abilities. There is also the Harbord Scouts meet and the Harbord Bowling and Recreation Club with four greens and home to many large tournaments.
Schools
Curl Curl is in a prime location to take advantage of the schools in the nearby area, and the Freshwater Senior Campus of Northern Beaches Secondary College can also be found here.
