Living in Davidson
Davidson is a suburb of northern Sydney, located 20 kilometres north-east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of Warringah Council. Davidson is part of the Northern Beaches region and also considered to be part of the Forest District, colloquially known as The Forest.
History
In 1923 a park in the area was named after Sir Walter Davidson, who was the Governor of New South Wales from 1918 until 1923. The suburb that subsequently grew around it took on the name of Davidson, and was initially used as mining land before residential development took over in the 1980s.
Transport Links
Access to Davidson is through neighbouring Frenchs Forest, which in turn adjoins Forest Way, leading onto some of the Northern Beaches main arterial roads. There is a bus service provided connecting Davidson with surrounding suburbs.
Recreation
Christmas time in Davidson is very special, due to the resident’s displays of lights. This has become a bit of a tradition, with people from all over Sydney coming to have a look and enjoy the festive spirit. For the rest of the year, Davidson offers a quiet lifestyle with ready access to neighbouring suburb’s shopping, dining and sporting facilities, including the Wakehurst Soccer Club- the largest on the Northern Beaches.
Schools
St Martins Catholic Primary School and Kambora Public School can both be found here, with Davidson High School actually located in neighbouring Frenchs Forest.
