Double Bay is a harbourside eastern suburb of Sydney, located 4 kilometres east of the Sydney central business district and is the administrative centre of the local government area of the Municipality of Woollahra.

History

Double Bay takes its name from the pair of bays situated on its northern harbour foreshore between Point Piper and Darling Point. In the 1960s Double Bay became known as one of Sydney’s most stylish shopping- this reputation remains today.

Transport Links

The area is well served with frequent buses along New South Head Road to the City. Edgecliff Station provides excellent train links and is only a short walk, the ferry takes only 15 minutes into Circular Quay.

Shopping and Recreation

Double Bay features Sydney’s premiere strip of high-end fashion boutiques, art galleries and specialist book shops and antiques. Plenty of fine dining can be found here, with Redleaf Pool, Double Bay Sailing Club and Double Bay and Cooper Parks provide the perfect place to let off some steam with their football, cricket and tennis facilities.

The suburb is home to Double Bay Public School, with a selection of Sydney’s most prestigious schools just a short drive away.
