Living in Dover Heights
Dover Heights is a coastal, Eastern Suburb of Sydney, located 9 kilometres east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of Waverley Council. Dover Heights borders Vaucluse to its north, North Bondi to its south and Rose Bay to its west and has the Pacific Ocean to its east.
History
Dover Heights is believed to have been named for its cliffs along the Pacific Ocean which resembled those found at Dover, in Kent, England. The first mention of Dover Heights appeared in municipal records in 1886 when the area was used for market gardens.

The suburb is only a 15 minutes drive into the CBD, and is well served by buses to the City, or to Bondi Junction with its fast train services.
Shopping and Recreation
A local village-type shopping strip can be found along Old South Head Road, with a larger selection of shops and exclusive boutique stores in nearby Double Bay. If you are feeling energetic, the Dover Heights Coastwalk will take you to The Gap, with plenty of outdoor exercise facilities along the way.
