Duffys Forest, NSW – 2084
Duffys Forest is a suburb of northern Sydney, located 28 kilometres north of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of Warringah Council. Duffys Forest is considered to be part of the Northern Beaches region and the Forest District.
History
The area is named after Patrick Duffy, a timber cutter who received a land grant here in 1857. He went on to clear a road through the bush to Cowan Creek, where he built a stone wharf for transporting timber. The wharf is still known as Duffys Wharf.
Transport Links
The suburb is well situated for Mona Vale Road, one of the Northern Beaches main arterial roads. The City and CBD are around a 40 minute drive.
Recreation
Duffys Forest is home to the Waratah Park Earth Sanctuary, which is a popular tourist attraction. The park was used in the famous television show ‘Skippy the Bush Kangaroo’, with many props and scenery still found here. The area is surrounded by beautiful park and bushland, with many walking trails and the breathtaking views in the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park making you feel a million miles from Sydney.
