History

The suburb takes its name from the location- on the edge of a cliff. The area was largely dominated by the Glenrock Estate, granted to Sir Edward Knox in the 1800s, the buildings of which are now on the Register of the National Estate. The grounds now house the highly exclusive Ascham School.
