Kareela, NSW – 2232
Kareela is a suburb in southern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Kareela is located 24 kilometres south of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of the Sutherland Shire.
History
Kareela is derived from an Aboriginal word meaning ‘place of trees and water’ and the name for the suburb was approved by the Geographical Names Board in 1968.

Kareela has a small shopping centre including a supermarket, bakery, deli and Chinese restaurant. Kareela Golf Course and Kareela Oval provide recreational facilities, while Kareela Primary is the suburb’s school.
