Living in Lindfield
Lindfield is a suburb on the Upper North Shore of Sydney, 13 kilometres north-west of the Sydney Central Business District in the local government area of Ku-ring-gai Council.
History
It is believed the name Lindfield originated from the village of Lindfield in Sussex, England. The name was given to a cottage built in 1884 by Francis John List, of Sussex, and was then used as the name of the station there when the railway line was developed in the area.
Transport Links
Lindfield railway station is on the North Shore Line of the Cityrail network and is about 30 minutes by train from the CBD. The Pacific Highway is the main arterial road through the suburb, providing excellent road links. The area is also well serviced by buses running to neighbouring Chatswood, North Sydney and the City.
Shopping and Recreation
Lindfield benefits from the village-feel of small, neighbourhood shopping facilities and also a 24 hour supermarket, with the huge shopping hub of Chatswood just a few minutes away. Lindfield is situated adjacent to Lane Cove National Park, Garigal Nation Park and Seven Little Australians Park with their beautiful picnic and walking areas. The rose gardens and sandstone terraces of Swain Gardens provide a delightful resting spot, and the suburb is well served with facilities for cricket, soccer, rugby and tennis if you are feeling more energetic.
