Rose Bay, NSW – 2029
Rose Bay is a harbourside, eastern suburb of Sydney, located 7 kilometres east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government areas of Waverley Municipal Council and Woollahra Council.
History
Rose Bay was named after The Right Honourable George Rose who was joint Secretary to the British Treasury with Thomas Steele, after whom Steel(e) Point at Nielsen Park was named. The name Rose Bay was used as early as 1788 by Captain John Hunter. From 1938, seaplanes landed in Sydney Harbour on Rose Bay, making this Sydney’s first international airport.
Transport Links
The Rose Bay ferry wharf provides access to the Eastern Suburbs ferry services and there are frequent buses to and from the centre of Sydney via Kings Cross.
Recreation
Woollahra Golf Club and the esteemed Royal Sydney Golf Club can both be found in Rose Bay, as well as the 3rd Rose Bay Rovers and Woollahra Sailing Club.
Schools
Kambala Girls School, Kincoppel Rose Bay and Cranbrook Preparatory School can all be found here, along with public schools Rose Bay Secondary College and Rose Bay Public School.
