St Peters is a suburb in the inner west of Sydney, located 7 kilometres south of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of Marrickville Council.
History
St Peters was named by its association with St Peters Anglican Church, which was consecrated in 1838. St Peters is the third oldest Anglican church in Sydney and has been claimed to be the first church built in Australia using non-convict labour.
Transport Links
The Princes Highway is a major arterial road in the area and begins in St Peters, near the railway station. Journeys to the City and CBD take between 7 and 10 minutes from St Peters by rail, although the area is also well serviced by buses.
Shopping, Recreation and Schools
The area is small and predominantly residential, so residents head to nearby Marrickville or Newtown for their shopping , sporting and recreational needs. A good range of schools are only a short drive away in neighbouring suburbs.
