Watsons Bay, NSW – 2030
Watsons Bay is a harbourside, eastern suburb of Sydney, located 11 km north-east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the Municipality of Woollahra.
History
The suburb takes its name from Robert Watson, who served on HMS Sirius when it arrived in Sydney in 1788 and was the first Superintendent of South Head’s Macquarie Lighthouse.
Transport Links
The wharf provides a pleasant ferry ride to the City, or alternatively the regular buses run into the city and also to the train station at Bondi.
Shopping, Recreation and Schools
Daily shopping needs are catered for, but for more retail therapy head to nearby Double Bay or Bondi. Watsons Bay is well served for a relaxed afternoon with great cafes boasting superb views of the Harbour and pleasant waterfront walking paths. The suburb is also well positioned for some of Sydney’s best schools, including Cranbrook and Scots College.
