Renovate or move?

With our homes, we're often considering - do we stay here and renovate as we are starting to outgrow it, or do we look at moving into a bigger home?

It can be a decision fraught with difficulty because you're attached to the location you bought in and you (may) love your neighbors, but the home no longer offers what you and the family need.

One of the major things you need to consider when you're looking into this is, if you renovate your current home - are you going to over capitalise? To determine this, it's best to look at what your neighbours have done around you and where the potential is in terms of price and sale prices over the last couple of months. Alternatively, if you're looking to buy, then you want to be looking at the areas you're planning to move to and looking at what budget you're going to need to move that area. This then needs to be weighed up against the cost of renovating your current home to meets your needs.

At PK Property, we have been helping families over the past 21 years and would love to be able to visit you to provide some independent advice in terms of what buyers are looking for in a home. We can provide advice on what renovations we think would benefit your property and give you an idea on current market value. Please contact us today on 02 9960 1066 to arrange a time for us to provide you with this independent, complimentary advice about whether you should renovate or move!
