Living in Rosebery

Rosebery is a suburb in south-eastern Sydney, located 6 kilometres south of the Sydney central business district and is part of the local government area of the City of Sydney.

History

Rosebery was named after Archibald Phillip Primrose, the fifth Earl of Rosebery, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in 1894-95, after his visit to Australia.

Transport Links

Rosebery is located adjacent to Green Square, where there is a railway station, with trains running on the Airport and East Hills line. There are frequent buses servicing the area.

Shopping, Recreation and Schools

A small shopping centre can be found on Gardeners Road, with other shops located on and around Botany Road. Turruwul Park and Crete Reserve provide green, outdoor space, as well as a number of smaller parks on Lever Street. Gardeners Road Primary School and St Therese Catholic School can both be found in Rosebery.
