Living in Coogee
Coogee, a beachside suburb of local government area City of Randwick, is located 8 kilometres south-east of the Sydney central business district. It is part of the Eastern Suburbs and south-eastern Sydney regions.
History
Coogee is one of the older south-eastern suburbs of Sydney, and in the early 1900s was a fashionable seaside resort, attracting many tourists and day trippers. Coogee Aquarium and Ocean Pier were popular places to visit, and attracted many to the swimming baths and restaurants before being devestated by a storm in 1945. The building was re-built in 1987 and converted into restaurants and bars.
Transport Links
The area has excellent bus facilities, with many services from the City and CBD terminating at Coogee Beach. The popular tourist service- The Bay and Bondi Explorer- a scenic coastal bus, also terminates here before returning to th City.
Shopping and Recreation
Coogee retains a village shopping atmosphere with friendly, family run businesses, and a fantastic selection of cafes and restaurants. Wylies Baths have recently been refurbished, and the children’s pool is a popular spot with families. Coastal walks, beachside parklands, Coogee RSL, Coogee Bowling Club, Coogee Swimming Club and the cricket oval ensure that all tastes are catered for.

Coogee Primary School , South Coogee Primary School, Coogee Boys Preparatory School and St Brigid’s Primary School can all be found in the area.
