Drummoyne is a suburb in the inner west of Sydney, located 6 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district and is the administrative centre for the local government area of the City of Canada Bay. Drummoyne sits on the peninsula between Iron Cove and Five Dock Bay and is surrounded on three sides by Sydney Harbour and the Parramatta River. As such, the suburb has some of Sydney's best waterfront views.

History

In 1853, a large area of land was subdivided, and the land where the suburb now stands was bought by William Wright, who named the land Drummoyne after his family home in Scotland. In the 1880s, the Iron Cove and Gladesville Bridges increased the ease of transport in the area and the suburbs popularity as a residential area increased dramatically.

The area is well served by buses into the City and CBD and to neighbouring suburbs. There is also a ferry service into Circular Quay.
