Living in Riverview
Riverview is a suburb on the Lower North Shore of Sydney, located 9 kilometres north-west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the Municipality of Lane Cove, on the northern side of the Lane Cove River.
History
Riverview takes its name from its location, which provides a 'view' of the Lane Cove 'River', and was a popular transport route in the 1870s for timber and charcoal.
Transport Links
The suburb is well serviced by buses travelling to both North Sydney and the City.
Shopping and Recreation
Riverview retains a village-type atmosphere, with a small general store in Tambourine Bay Road, though the large selection of shops at nearby Lane Cove are only a few minutes away, with the huge shopping hub of Chatswood a short drive. There is a good selection of parks and reserves including the Tambourine Bay Reserve overlooking the water, with picnic and barbecue facilities and walking tracks. A few minutes away in Lane Cove is the ever popular Lane Cove National Park and the Lane Cove Aquatic Leisure Centre, with fun for all the family.
Schools
The historical St Ignatius College can be found in Riverview, a day and boarding high school with beautiful views of Tambourine Bay. Nearby Lane Cove and North Sydney provide a larger selection of primary and secondary schools.
