Living in Forestville
Forestville is a suburb of northern Sydney, located 15 kilometres north-east of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of Warringah Council. Forestville is part of the Northern Beaches region and also considered to be part of the Forest District, colloquially known as The Forest.
History
The area started off as a thick, wooded forest until the a small development was built. Forestville literally means ‘town in the forest’.
Transport Links
Forestville has good access to some of the Northern Beaches main roads, including Forest Way and Warringah Road. This provides excellent links by road and bus to other areas around the Northern Beaches and the City. There is also an express bus service running from neighbouring Frenchs Forest into the CBD.
Recreation
Forest Killarney Soccer Club, Forest Killarney Netball Club, Forest Rugby Club and the Forestville Ferrets Junior Rugby League Football Club offer a great selection of sporting facilities. The Garigal and Ku-ring-gai Chase National Parks are both close at hand and provide plenty of parkland and bush for walking and mountain biking. Shopping facilities can be found in ‘The Centre’ as well as a large supermarket. Forestville is also home to the office and call centre of the NSW Wildlife Information and Rescue Service (WIRES).
Schools
There are two primary schools in Forestville, Our Lady of Good Counsel and Forestville Public School. Killarney Heights High School, Forest High School and Davidson High School are all close by.
