Living in Hunters Hill

Hunters Hill  is a suburb in Sydney, located 9 kilometres north-west of the Sydney CBD and is the administrative centre for the local government area of the Municipality of Hunter's Hill. Hunters Hill is situated on a small peninsula that separates the Lane Cove River and Parramatta River.

History

The area's Aboriginal name is 'Mookaboola' which means meeting of waters. Hunters Hill was named after John Hunter the second Governor of New South Wales, who was in office between 1795 and 1800.

Hunters Hill is well served by buses, and ferries, a scenic ferry from either Hunters Hill or Woolwich, or an approximate 20 minute drive into the City.

Shopping

Hunters Hill has several commercial areas, with a small group of shops located along the central streets, where all basic needs will be catered to. More extensive shopping can be found in Gladesville and Balmain. Hunters Hill is also home to many pleasant cafes and bistros.
