Living in Beverly Hills
Beverly Hills is a suburb in southern Sydney, located 17 kilometres south of the Sydney central business district and is part of the St George area. Beverly Hills lies across two local government areas, the City of Hurstville and the City of Canterbury.
History
Beverly Hills was originally known as Dumbleton after a local farm in the area, circa 1830, however the name was generally unpopular with residents who lobbied to change it when the East Hills railway line opened here in 1931. The name was chosen after Beverly Hills in California, USA, as it was becoming famous for being the home of famous movie stars at the time.
Transport Links
Beverly Hills railway station is on the East Hills/Airport line of the City Rail network. Entrances to the M5 Motorway can be found here, connecting east to the CBD and airport, and west to Liverpool and Campbelltown.
Shopping and Recreation
The main shopping strip is located on King Georges Road, near the Beverly Hills railway station, though other commercial areas can be found along Stoney Creek Road. Beverly Hills is home to a vast selection of cafes, restaurants and takeaways to suit every taste. Beverly Hills Park is home to two large football ovals and barbecue areas, Vanessa Street Tennis Courts and Canterbury Golf Course are also here.

Beverly Hills Girls' High School, Beverly Hills Primary School, Beverly Hills North Primary School and Regina Coeli Primary School can all be found in the suburb.
