Living in Panania

Panania, a suburb of local government area City of Bankstown, is located 23 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district and is a part of the South-western Sydney region.

History

The name Panania was given to the area when the East Hills railway line was completed in 1931. Panania is an Aboriginal word meaning ‘sun rising in the east and shining on the hills’.

Transport Links

Panania railway station is on the East Hills line of the CityRail network and the area is well served by buses.

Shopping and Recreation

The shopping area can be found near the railway station and also features a public library. There are a number of parks and reserves in the area which are perfect for a walk or jog and also have some excellent sporting facilities for soccer, cricket and rugby.
