Allambie Heights is a suburb of northern Sydney, located 17 kilometres north-east of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of Warringah Council and is part of the Northern Beaches region.

History

Allambie is an Aboriginal word that means “peaceful place”, and an estate by that name was subdivided and auctioned in 1918. Many people believe that the route of which Allambie Road follows today was once used by the indigenous people to access the beach at nearby Manly. The suburb has been developed since the late 1940s.

Transport Links

The area is well served with bus services, and the nearby train station at Roseville is only a 10 minute drive, with its fast links to the City and CBD. The City is about a 20 minute journey by car.

Recreation and Shopping

There is plenty to do in the area with the Warringah Aquatic Centre being a popular place for families to take part in activities. The local shopping strip offers all daily necessities and the large Warringah Mall is just a short drive away. Ten minutes away are the beautiful beaches of Curl Curl and Freshwater, and the tranquil Narrabeen Lake is a great spot for a walk, jog or bike ride.

Schools

Allambie Heights has a good selection of day care and pre-school facilities for young children, as well as Allambie Heights Public School for the older ones. A great range of both public and private schools are available in neighbouring suburbs.
