Living in Cromer

Cromer is a suburb of northern Sydney, located 20 kilometres north-east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of Warringah Council and is part of the Northern Beaches region.

History

Cromer is named after the seaside town of Cromer, in Norfolk, England. The area had been known as Dee Why West but it was changed after Dee Why Golf Links was taken over by the Cromer Country Club in 1940. The club applied to have the area's name changed to Cromer and permission was granted to create the new suburb.

Transport Links

Road links are good, with Cromer being in close proximity to Pittwater Road and Warringah Road, and there are frequent buses to Warringah Mall and Manly.

Recreation

Cromer is home to a number of parks and recreational facilities, including Truman Reserve, Dee Why West Recreation Reserve and Inman Park, which host a variety of sporting activities such as soccer, cricket, rugby and baseball. You can also find the Warringah Archers archery club here, and the Cromer Cricket Club. Cromer is a stone’s throw from  the vast array of shops at Warringah Mall and a good selection of international cuisine along Pittwater Road.

Cromer High School can be found in the suburb, with the schools of Collaroy, Freshwater and Manly a short journey away.
