Terrey Hills is a suburb of northern Sydney, located 25 kilometres north of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of Warringah Council and is part of the Northern Beaches region.

History

Terrey Hills owes its name to the two original land holders Samuel Hills and Obediah James Terrey, who were granted over 700 acres between them in 1881. Prior to that the area was used by Aborigines and excellent examples of Aboriginal rock carvings can still be seen here.

Transport Links

Terrey Hills is well served by buses, with the Forest Coach Line depot to be found here. These services run to the City and other suburbs nearby. Mona Vale road connects Terrey Hills to the rest of the Northern Beaches.

Recreation

The suburb has two golf courses, two tennis centres and several BMX tracks. Terrey Hills Rugby Club and the home of Terrey Hills Wolves are also to be found here.

Schools

Terrey Hills is home to the Northern Beaches Christian School, The Sydney Japanese School, Terrey Hills Public School, the German International School, and KINMA, an alternative school for children aged 0-12.
