Living in Turramurra
Turramurra is a suburb on the Upper North Shore of Sydney, located 17 kilometres north of the Sydney Central Business District, in the local government area of Ku-ring-gai Council.
History
Turramurra is an Aboriginal word meaning ‘high hill’, and the name was adopted when the railway station was built here in 1890. The suburb is home to many great examples of turn-of-the-century architecture, including Ingleholme, which is now on the Register of the National Estate, The Hillview estate, and St Andrews in Kissing Point Road.
Transport Links
The Pacific Highway is a major arterial road in Turramurra, and the area is well serviced with regular trains from Turramurra train station on the North Shore line of the CityRail network. Buses also run a frequent service to the City and other suburbs.
Shopping and Recreation
Beside the railway station is a large selection of shops including two supermarkets and a petrol station. Turramurra has several sporting fields with excellent tennis and large netball facilities, with more tennis courts and a basketball court located at Hamilton Park. Commenarra Park boasts cricket nets and soccer fields, as well as dense bush with walking tracks popular with hikers.

The area is rich with schools and Turramurra is home to Turramurra Public School, Ku-ring-gai High School and Northside Montessori School to name a few.
