Living in Waitara

History
Landowner Miles McCrae suggested the name Waitara, which comes from the New Zealand Maori meaning ‘hail, pure water’ when the railway station opened there in 1895. This name was believed to have been given to the subdivision project of land he had previously sold in Southern Sydney.
