Sydney's North Shore is proof that despite consistent media reports of a "Sydney Property Market slowdown", there are many areas that are actually performing strongly. In fact, on the North Shore, some suburbs are selling almost as quickly as they are being listed!
According to CoreLogic figures recently released, the suburbs of Crows Nest, North Turramurra and Willoughby have the shortest days on market for houses. Crows Nest houses are selling on average in 23 days (ie. within the standard 4 week campaign), whilst North Turramurra and Willoughby have a median time on market of 27 days.
Crows Nest is increasing in popularity with buyers due to the "village" appeal - with a number of nice cafes, restaurants, pubs and parks making it a lifestyle location for both upsizers and downsizers alike.
Willoughby has also grown in popularity, with many buyers attracted by it's proximity to Chatswood, North Sydney and the city, but without the price tag that comes along with those suburbs. Many of the properties across both Crows Nest and Willoughby have also been renovated from original character homes to now have modern touches, and the ability to move straight in with nothing to do also gives these suburbs broader appeal.
When it comes to apartments, Artarmon tops the list with an average of only 23 days on market, along with Crows Nest at 24 days. Artarmon Public School is a big driver of buyers to this suburb, along with the train line and city access.
