Some Tips for the New Home Owner

SOME TIPS FOR THE NEW HOME OWNER

Now you have purchased your home and moved in you may suffer a feeling of relief and anti-climax, a sort of “what do I do now.” First of all, be very cautious when planning purchases or renovation for your new home. Financial commitment is the major cause of problems for new home owners.

Here are some tips to help you survive:

Use the family network for essential household items and comb the second hand stores, garage sales and auction columns. Often pre-loved goods are superior in quality anyway. Most secondhand goods are less than a quarter of their new price.

Family and friends are also great for painting and working bees around the yard.

Treat your home as your major hobby. Plan little projects, especially in the garden to help you get over the “when will it end blues.”

Do not borrow or use credit cards to get over a short term crisis. The interest rates are high and it often starts a cycle of borrowing more and more.
